About Clay

I’m Clay, and I believe business and real estate should feel clear, calm, and relationship-driven.

For more than two decades, I’ve had the privilege of helping people navigate some of life’s biggest decisions: buying a home, selling a home, making a move for a new season of life, or investing in real estate to build long-term security. I’m based in Fishers, Indiana and work throughout the greater Indianapolis area, with a strong focus on the north and northeast suburbs.

At the end of the day, my goal is simple. I want you to feel informed, protected, and confident, without ever feeling pressured.

How I got here

After graduating high school, I headed to the University of Evansville to pursue a business degree with a concentration in marketing. I wasn’t fully sure where my career would take me yet, but I did know this: I wanted to serve people, build strong relationships, and create a future I could be proud of.

As it turns out, building the foundation of my life required building an actual foundation.

After marrying my high school sweetheart, I found myself knee-deep in the process of building our first home, and I was hooked! That experience gave me a real appreciation for what homeownership represents, and it ultimately helped launch my career in real estate.

I entered the industry specializing in new construction, working as a top sales person for some of the top builders in the Indianapolis area. Over time, I expanded my experience into mortgage origination and eventually into residential real estate sales, which gave me a broader understanding of what it really takes to navigate the full process smoothly.

As my career grew, I also leaned into the entrepreneurial side of real estate. I didn’t just want to help people buy and sell homes. I wanted to build a business that delivered a higher level of service, created a strong client experience, and supported people long after closing day.

That drive is what led me to build and lead the Burris Realty Group, and later co-create and grow SHIELD Property Management to better serve homeowners and real estate investors throughout Central Indiana.

Along the way, I also became a real estate investor myself through Guardian Realty Investments. Owning and managing rentals has given me an added perspective on the decisions that matter most, not just today, but long-term.

Beyond Business

Outside of real estate and business, I’m a family guy and I really enjoy staying active and connected with people. I’m a big sports fan, especially basketball and football, and I’ve always loved competition. As a kid that showed up through soccer and basketball, and these days it’s usually tennis, pickleball, bowling, ping pong, and pretty much anything else I can turn into a friendly match.

I love to travel and experience new places around the country and the world, whether it’s a weekend trip or something bigger that creates memories for our family. I’m also a big live music person, and I’ll never turn down a chance to get outside for a concert or spend time with friends.

I enjoy being around good people, having a good laugh, and keeping relationships strong. And even though life is busy, I still enjoy a good video game every now and then!

Giving back is important to my family and me, and we stay involved in the community by consistently supporting local school initiatives, youth sports, local food banks, and youth mentoring. I believe community matters, and I’m grateful to be able to contribute to the place we call home and has given me so much success.
