I’m Clay, a Central Indiana real estate broker, entrepreneur, investor, and soon-to-be author. For more than 21 years, I’ve helped people navigate important decisions with calm guidance, honest perspective, and a plan they can feel confident carrying forward.

How I Got Here

As it turns out, building the foundation of my life required building an actual foundation.

After high school, I attended the University of Evansville, where I earned a business degree with a concentration in marketing. I was not entirely sure where my career would lead, but I knew I wanted to serve people, build strong relationships, and create a future I could be proud of.

Shortly after marrying my high school sweetheart, we began building our first home. I became fascinated by the process and by what a home represents: stability, possibility, family, and an important part of a person’s financial future.

That experience led me into new-construction sales, where I worked for several leading Indianapolis-area builders. I later moved into mortgage origination before transitioning into residential brokerage. Seeing the process from the builder, lender, and real estate sides gave me a broader understanding of how the pieces work together and where buyers and sellers most need strong guidance.

As my career grew, so did my entrepreneurial interests. I built and began leading Burris Realty Group, helped create SHIELD Property Management, and became an active investor through Guardian Realty Investments.

Today, I bring those experiences together to help people make thoughtful decisions about buying, building, owning, selling, managing, and investing in real estate.

Began advising buyers and sellers throughout Central Indiana and built a business centered on strategy, preparation, and long-term relationships.

Built and led Burris Realty Group and helped create SHIELD Property Management to serve clients beyond a traditional sale.

Became an active real estate investor through and began turning more than two decades of lessons into a practical book for buyers, homeowners, and sellers.

Outside of work, I’m a husband, dad, sports fan, traveler, live-music enthusiast, and willing participant in almost any friendly competition. Depending on the day, that might mean basketball, football, tennis, pickleball, bowling, ping pong, or occasionally a video game.

My favorite experiences are usually the ones shared with family and friends, whether we are exploring someplace new, attending a concert, supporting a local team, or simply spending time together close to home.

Community matters.

My family and I are grateful for the opportunities Central Indiana has given us. We support local schools, youth sports, food banks, mentoring programs, and organizations working to make our community stronger.
